We've released two reports looking at all things to do with charity lotteries. In this blog, we summarise some key findings from this research, undertaken on behalf of the Lotteries Council.
There has been considerable change in the lottery sector over the last decade, with various reforms to the sector and strong growth among large Charity Lotteries. Whilst seeing strong overall growth, the National Lottery has seen some dips in its sales and returns made to good causes. Various consultations and inquiries have discussed potential explanations for this, including, changes in the mechanisms of ticket prices, the odds of winning, and the possibility that competition from Charity Lotteries may be a threat to the National Lottery.
This week's blog may be a bit of a controversial read for some. Joe Saxton casts a critical lens on the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on the work of Fundraising Directors, and suggests the role needs an overhaul.
It is well known that Black, Asian and other ethnic minority communities are largely under-researched in the charity sector (and beyond). In 2019, we established a yearly research syndicate to explore how these audiences engage with charities. In this free report, we release some of the key findings from our November 2019 - January 2020 research.
This free report explores the (at times controversial) issue of charging for your charity services. We ask: Can (and should) charities charge their beneficiaries to make up for falling fundraising income? And what happens when they do?
Last week CAF released a report saying that the public has given an extra £800m during the first six months of this year, compared to last. The research flows against the tide of almost all other research carried out during Covid. This week's blog looks at the reasons why CAF's research needs to be interrogated and treated with caution.
In our blog this week, we're highlighting some worrying findings from our research with the UK general public. Only 54% of the public report having given in last 3 months, and 28% say they’ve given less in last 12 months than previous years; we've never seen so many people say they have given less. It's not all doom and gloom though; read the blog to find out why.
In this week's blog, Simona Battipaglia looks at the state of the international development sector and public attitudes towards it, highlighting why this is a decisive time for international development charities.
This week's blog highlights the importance of making LGBT+ voices heard and the fact that this audience remains largely under-researched in the charity sector. It also analyses our LGBT+ research and what an ideal LGBT+ charity would look like.
