With the Easter bank holiday right around the corner, we’re recapping some of our eggs-quisite blogs and free reports on subjects that are hard to egg-nore. From exploring the impact of Covid-19 on charities to grant making to charity brand and much more - you may not carrot all, but we think they’re really worth a read! Anyway, I don’t want to rabbit on too much – let’s hop to it.
Enjoy your Easter weekend!
Goodbye nfpSynergy, Hello nfpResearch
As you now know, after 20 years of working with charity clients big and small, we decided it was time for a rebrand. Thank you for the feedback and support we’ve received; we’re really excited for what is to come. If you missed Co-Managing Directors Tim and Cian’s announcement and plans for the future, check it out here
How do minority ethnic audiences engage with charities?
It is well known that Black, Asian and other ethnic minority communities are largely under-researched in the charity sector (and beyond). In 2019, we established a yearly research syndicate to explore how these audiences engage with charities. In this free report, we release some of the key findings from our November 2019 - January 2020 research.
Gone Viral - The impact of a second year of Covid-19 on charities
In 2020, we released our ‘Going Viral’ report, exploring the initial response to the Covid-19 outbreak by charities. During the second year of Covid-19, it was time to revisit and delve into the experiences of charities in the sector again to take a longer-term perspective on the pandemic and its impact on the sector. We interviewed just under 20 charities to explore their experiences and hopes and fears for the future.
Hidden But Vital: Charities and the Pandemic
This report compares findings collected during the pandemic with longer term trends in the charity sector. We're sharing data and trends from surveys with the general public, parliamentarians, journalists covering charity sector news, and primary healthcare professionals; all this alongside our Covid-19 research.
Research Reflections: Looking back, looking forward
At the beginning of the month, we held a Research Reflections event where Co-Managing Directors Tim and Cian shared the key ways the landscape for charities has changed and then the ways the charity sector may evolve over the coming years. View the event recording or download the slides.
Fundraisers should be worried about declining understanding of Gift Aid
Gift Aid is a valuable scheme for the sector, but our data shows a concerning decrease in the public's knowledge and understanding of Gift Aid over the last decade.
Charities need great CEOs: so do we need a more nuanced debate around charity CEO salaries?
In this blog, we look at some potential methods of quantifying charity CEO earnings beyond our fixation with the number of zeros at the end of the salary. It’s great to see conversation in the comments, please leave us your thoughts.
The Future of the Funding Sector: Interviews with sector leaders
We released the findings from research commissioned by John Ellerman Foundation in Spring 2021. We hope that sharing the views of many important voices within the grant making sector through this research will spark further discussion about the challenges faced by the sector, how each individual funder can confront them, and ultimately how the sector can better serve the organisations and communities it funds. Discover what they said in this free report.
Is your charity's brand working hard enough to stand out?
Looking for brand related reading? In this blog Rosie discusses the importance of a well differentiated charity brand - one that effectively communicates uniqueness and distinctiveness through its name, mission, tone of voice and visual identity; but this isn't always easy to achieve.
